Zot,

Well, I did go back and continue with the book and you're right about the identity of the villain. There's no way the reader could have seen that coming. Struck by lightning is a good way to describe it too. When I learned who it was I went "what the hell?" And that's never a good thing. *g*

It might have worked better if the author hadn't tried so hard to tie the resolution of that plot thread to the romance so directly.

I have another couple of chapters to go and I can see the HEA coming. I just haven't decided if I'm buying into it.

I actually read that book over the weekend. It gets even better; you haven't gotten to the bit where the perpetrator's pulled out of nowhere in a way that demonstrates that the reader couldn't possibly have guessed, with a motive that's old and cliche'd.

That's okay, I guess -- ten pages later it's promptly disposed of, and you could've replaced all ten pages with the phrase "hit by lightning" and it would've worked just as well.

'Twas a touch disappointing, really.

I'll definitely do that. Now I might even have to finish the book. Lol!

I don't know if we're thinking of the same book or not, but are you sure he goes through with it. I read a similar book, can't think of the name right now but he stops it and doesn't continue on with sleeping with him. Ok. you need to private e-mail me the name of that book.

Thanks Mer. I got a little distracted from this idea, but it's definitely something I plan to do.

Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by the blog.
