The Edit Process

Editing what I’ve written is much harder than writing it in the first place. Imagine that. Just when I thought writing a novel was the most challenging thing I’d ever done, along comes the edit process.

Of course I’m talking about editing my novel, Phoenix Rising.

The changes my editor asked for are totally reasonable and I agree that they will make the story stronger, but figuring out how to make them is still hurting my brain. *g*

Right now I’m working on a brand new chapter to be inserted between what is now the break up and the reconciliation. It’s sort of a time passes, moving on without moving on kind of chapter. As such I’m afraid I’m not making it interesting enough.

I need to show my heroes during their time apart. Their lives are going on, sure, but they’re still longing for the other, measuring any and all new partners against the one they still love, their soul-mate. *sigh*

At least I want it to be that romantic and sigh-worthy. Whether or not it will be …

We’ll see what my editor says when I turn it over to her.
